The Town Hall was the venue for the latest edition of the Pevsner Architectural Guide of the Buildings of England.
The Pevsner is the Holy Grail as far as guides to the country's historic buildings are concerned.
On May 20, The Times reviewed the book and was very damning when it came to Warrington's past history in protecting its architectural heritage.
The author, Richard Pollard, is a genuine conservationist and expressed real concern for the continuing loss of our local heritage, as did many of the professionals present.
What a sad thing it is that many of our own town councillors do not hold these views.
What a sad thing that so much of Warrington's heritage has been destroyed.
What a shameful thing that the destruction still goes on.
In Stockton Heath we have fought the case to save our school and won convincingly.
Now the council is trying to go through the whole consultation process again.
The whole thing has descended into a farce using and wasting taxpayers' money
We have a just right to determine and protect our heritage, we have a right to true democracy and for these rights we intend to fight and we intend to win.
