THIS summer's Nantwich Show promises to be a record-breaking affair, costing almost half a million pounds to stage.

The show, at Dorfold Park on July 26, attracted some 32,000 visitors last year.

But now organisers are busy expanding the agricultural day to become still bigger and better.

This year will see the enlargement of the cheese pavilion to some 45,000sq ft, housing some 2,000 cheese entries from across the UK and around the world.

The Mornflake Pavilion, housing home and leisure stands will also be enlarged, as will the Town and Country Pavilion, home to arts and crafts, home produce and floral art.

A spokesman said: "With regard to livestock it is perhaps no surprise that Nantwich is held in such high esteem within the agricultural calendar when we see that last year over 450 cattle were present featuring the finest the breeders could show.

"This has resulted in the show management yet again providing a further enlarged cattle area and this year all cattle will be housed under one huge marquee, along with sheep, poultry and pigeons.

"The horse section has also seen many changes with a new seven-acre vehicle park, allowing the rest of the show to grow.

"There will be over 12 hours of continuous ring displays with the main ring featuring performances by the Big Pete Monster Truck Display and the Jason Smyth Adrenaline Tour.

"In addition to these we will see continuous bandstand performances from the Gershwin Gang, the Cherry Pickers Steel Band, along with countryside pursuits, dogs and falconry.

"The show is estimated to cost some £450,000 to stage and without the help of our sponsors this would not be possible."
