WARRINGTON'S Abbie Cunningham flies out to the Caribbean today, Thursday, to participate in the first British judo camp to take place in Cuba.
The 19-year-old from Stockton Heath joins 16 other players in preparation for the Junior European Championships in Estonia in September and the Junior World Championships in the Dominican Republic in October.
As Cuba are one of the strongest judo nations in the world, the experience to be gained over the next 11 days is considered to be invaluable by British judo chiefs.
Cunningham, who is a member of Warrington Judo Club, will take part in daily sessions with many of the top junior and senior Cuban players. She will also undertake physical strength and conditioning training every day.
