RISING boxing ace Lee Ward has been selected to represent England.
The 16-year-old will become Bridge Foot Police Amateur Boxing Club's first representative fighter when he competes in the Four Nations at Everton Park Sports Centre on June 23 and 24.
Ward's selection comes on the back of outstanding form that led to him being crowned the Junior Amateur Boxing Association 46kg champion last month.
That defeat of Norwich Lads ABC's Danny Perry in the final of the national competition in Barnsley was considered to be Bridge Foot's best success in five years.
His coach Mandy Groarke said: "He is a battler with sheer determination and a will to win. His speed is very fast and he has beautiful flair too.
"All he has dreamt of is boxing for England and he has worked so hard for it. He deserves this chance."
