Rowing quads Star in Bedford
BOTH of Warrington Rowing Club's junior 14 coxed quads won their races at the Star Regatta in Bedford on Sunday.
The boys' crew of Joshua Goswell, Matt Spence, Phil Lyons, Darren Griffiths and cox Lauren Rowe were first across the line in their event on the River Ouse, while Jenni Pearson, Liv Clubley, Rowe, Lotty Cooper and cox Goswell won the girls' race.
Goswell and Griffiths then lost out by only a second in the boys' junior 14 double sculls race, with Hannah Kralev and Cooper suffering the same fate in the girls' event.
Swimming success
STAR swimmers Timothy Almond and Matthew Verdon both earned medals for Warriors of Warrington Swimming Club at the Cheestrings North West Age Group Championships in Manchester.
Almond grabbed gold in the under 13s 200m breaststroke, while Verdon took silver in the under 12s 100m butterfly.
