TEN team and individual medals were won by students of North West Karate Academy in the British Youth Championships at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield at the weekend.
Danielle Sawer, who won a silver in the under 12s girls' kata (patterned moves), was in the gold-winning under 12s kata side and the bronze-winning kumite (fighting) team along with Lydia Coleman and Samantha Anderton.
The under 16s girls' kata team of Nicole Halsall, Amy Cook and Natalie Charlton claimed silver and enjoyed further success, with Amy also winning a silver in the under 14s girls' kata.
Nicole won an individual bronze in the under 16s girls' over 57kg kumite and a second bronze with the under 16s girls' kumite team, while Natalie gained bronze medals in the under 14s girls' kata and 55kg kumite.
Ben Osborne, John Charlton and Alex Gore joined forces to compete in the under 12s boys' team kata competition and won silver for the club, which has bases in Culcheth and Newton.
