CHILDREN at a Woolston primary school were in for a treat when they received a flying visit from one of their favourite charities.
The North West Air Ambulance (NWAA) dropped into Woolston Community Primary School to say a big thank you for its continued support.
Katie the NWAA helicopter was on active standby on the school's playing fields all day so children could take a look around and find out more about the work of the NWAA.
The reason for the visit was to thank the school for its support during the charity's Cheshire recycling initiative.
Staff and pupils managed to collect 186 bags of clothes and donated them to the registered charity which swapped them for much-needed funds.
Judith Elshaw, head teacher said: "The North West Air Ambulance is such a vital service that we were delighted to get involved.
"It's been great for the pupils to learn about the benefits of recycling while raising funds for such a vital charity."
As the region's only medical air emergency service, the NWAA receives no mainstream funding and relies solely on the generosity of businesses and residents to keep it flying.
