A SHOP worker was threatened at knifepoint during a "frightening" robbery.
A man stormed Martin's newsagent on Admirals Road, Birchwood, at 9.30pm last Wednesday armed with a kitchen knife that was between eight and 12 inches long.
He threatened the 47-year-old manager and escaped with cash after running behind the counter.
DS David Walsh, from the northern area robbery unit, said: "Fortunately the store manager was not injured following the robbery.
"But she was left extremely frightened and shaken by the ordeal."
The man is described as having a slim to medium build and was 6ft tall.
He was wearing a dark-coloured face covering and a light coloured jacket with a pink band across the hood and blue pattern on the main part.
He had blue overall trousers, black leather gloves and white, scruffy trainers.
The knife had a blade of between eight and 12 inches.
Police are looking to speak to anyone who may have seen the man before or after the attack.
Call either DS Walsh on 01244 613730 or alternatively Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
