real danger
I WOULD like to respond to Mr Summersgill's letter, published in the Warrington Guardian last week.
Parking is strictly enforced on match days due to the influx of vehicles at the stadium and in response to numerous complaints from local residents who often bear the brunt of fans parking inconsiderately.
For disabled people, especially the blind, parked vehicles on pavements pose a real danger and this is why police take positive action against these drivers regardless of whether they feel they have left adequate space for pedestrians.
The officers who enforce the parking restrictions on match days are paid for at private cost to ensure the free flow of traffic around the stadium, to enable local residents to maintain access to their properties and in the interests of safety.
Mr Summersgill's father has the opportunity to attend court if he wishes to dispute his fine and this fact is clearly explained on the parking ticket.
