NOT all the community is satisfied with the revised blueprints for Parkside.
The Parkside Action Group (PAG) consists of residents from Warrington, St Helens and Wigan who are opposed to the freight terminal development.
Brendan Page, PAG chairman, believes the plans do not tell the whole story.
He said: "Look beyond the flashy graphics and slick presentation and you find dodgy statistics and empty promises."
The group says that Astral Developments' employment figures do not add up.
Mr Page said: "Astral 'anticipate' that at least 75 per cent of these 10,000 jobs will be new to the area.
"But their figures say Wigan will provide 19 per cent, St Helens 18 per cent and Warrington 13 per cent.
"That equals 50 per cent and these are from Astral's own estimates so how can we believe these figures?"
"At the end of the day we live in a residential green belt area and this development is simply too big and inappropriate for our community."
But MP Andy Burnham has welcomed the changes to the plans. He met with developers last year to raise 'serious concerns' about the possible impact of the terminal on already congested roads.
The Golborne MP now believes the project will alleviate traffic problems and improve the local economy.
He said: "I am pleased with the changes that have been made but it is by no means the end of the story.
"I have many constituents who will be directly affected and I want to be sure that their legitimate concerns have been fully and fairly addressed before deciding whether to give the scheme my backing."
He has called for a detailed noise abatement programme, improvements to the public transport system and proposes that the developer incorporates a memorial on the site to all those who worked at the former colliery.
