MEMBERS of Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust are to vote on whether the body should fold.
Based on subscription rates for last year, it is believed the trust's disappearance could cost the club between £15,000 and £20,000 a year.
Board member John Gleave will put the proposal to fellow fans at their annual meeting later this month.
He told the Guardian the trust is being wrecked by red tape.
"Rules and regulations are making things too difficult," he said yesterday, Tuesday.
"Any expenditure above £250 requires every member to be consulted and then a vote taken, which means everything takes too long to be approved."
Mr Gleave said he would like to see fans set up an 'old fashioned supporters association' instead.
The trust was originally set up to allow supporters to buy shares in the club with the aim of having representation on the board of directors, but since chairman Mike Connett took over two years ago that has changed.
Mr Gleave said: "Mr Connett calls the shots now, so the original reason the trust was formed no longer applies."
He said that a fresh break could be just what the trust needed, adding members were still split over whether to support the three Vics fans banned from attending matches at the Victoria Stadium last season.
Estimates say the £10 monthly subscriptions have fallen by up to 30 per cent since members voted not to continue supporting the 'VS3', as they have become known.
It is not clear what would happen to existing trust funds should fans back Mr Gleave's motion.
"The most important thing to me is getting pleasure from watching Northwich Victoria, and I want that to continue," he said.
"But I don't enjoy being a trust member any more."
The annual meeting takes place on Thursday, June 29 at 7.45pm.
Mr Gleave said: "It promises to be a very interesting evening."
