MORE than 70,000 visitors are expected to visit next week's Cheshire Show, where organisers hope to 'connect people to the countryside'.
The 200-acre showground will be transformed with special fencing, show rings, parking areas and hundreds of marquees.
Famous botanist and TV celebrity David Bellamy will be opening the new game fair attraction especially for countryside enthusiasts, which includes fishing, falconry and crafts.
Prof Bellamy said: "The show is a celebration of farming, food and the countryside - bringing everyone together. I'm looking forward to discovering the charms of the Cheshire countryside."
Some 600 trade stands, including a farmers' market and floral displays, are included and 4,000 horses will compete in the Gallaghers Mitsubishi Light Horse section - the largest of its kind the country.
Nigel Evans, Cheshire Show's executive director, said: "We are looking forward to welcoming visitors from throughout the UK to sample the best of everything 'country'."
He added: "Scores of volunteers are now working round the clock to prepare for the event, which promises to be a magnificent two days."
The show will take place at Tabley Showground on June 20 and 21, from 8.30am to 6.30pm.
Tickets are available from Cheshire Libraries and Information Centres, or at the gate.
