ACTION must be taken to reduce the number of cattle being affected by bovine TB, according Eddisbury MP Stephen O'Brien.
Mr O'Brien has raised concerns that an increasing number of cattle in his constituency are failing a TB test and being slaughtered.
He said: "The figures are alarming and we must see effective safeguards put into place and, if the scientific evidence is in support, deal with the wildlife sources of the disease too.
"We cannot expect farmers to put up with tighter controls and lower compensation while doing nothing to stop TB getting into the cattle population in the first place."
