RESIDENTS are still waiting for an alcohol ban to be imposed on two parks which have suffered for years at the hands of drunken yobs.
Vale Royal Borough Council is hoping the designated public place orders will be effective within 56 days at Over and Wharton recreation grounds.
Residents want Winsford Town Council to lock the gates at night to keep teenagers out of the parks.
Mike Kennedy, chairman of Winsford Residents' Federation, said: "I feel this is taking too long and they seem to be fiddling while Rome is burning.
"There has been a lot of trouble on the recreation grounds and residents are getting very concerned.
"The town council is considering replacing fencing and other equipment but I don't see the point if they don't keep it secure."
Town councillor Don Beckett said: "The legal people are working on our behalf.
"Once that is through we will meet as a town council to decide whether to lock the parks up."
Over Recreation Ground hut was broken into during the May bank holiday weekend and councillors are keen to upgrade security.
Clr Beckett said: "I would like to make it very clear that no money is kept at any of the recreation grounds."
