POLICE are investigating two motorbike accidents which took place within 24 hours of each other and claimed the lives of two Winsford men.
Vincent Mark Bloor, 36, of Calveley Way, died on Sunday when he lost control of his black 738cc Kawasaki motorbike on Bostock Road at its junction with Smoke Hall Lane in Wharton.
Mr Bloor was heading in the direction of Northwich at 7.20pm when he left the road at a right hand bend and hit a telegraph pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tributes have also been paid to Winsford police officer Tony Heaton, who died on the A556 Chester Road in Davenham at 6.45pm on Monday.
PC Heaton, 38, who was off duty at the time, was riding a red Triumph motorbike on the Chester bound carriageway when he failed to negotiate a sweeping left hand bend.
A spokesman for Cheshire Regional Ambulance Service said: "At 6.50pm we were called to the A556 near its junction with Chester Road to attend a motorbike accident where a man went into cardiac arrest.
"Paramedics did as much as they could to save him but he was confirmed dead by police."
A statement from PC Heaton's family said: "He was a truly supportive husband to Pam and devoted dad to his children Jessica and Max. An ex-royal engineer, keen rugby player and sportsman, he will be a sadly missed, fun loving guy."
Flags were flying at half mast at Cheshire Police headquarters in Winsford yesterday, Tuesday, as fellow officers remembered their dedicated colleague and friend. Ch Con Peter Fahy said: "Tony Heaton was an outstanding and dedicated officer.
"He was a forthright, committed and engaging officer and our hearts go out to his family at this time of bereavement."
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information about the crash involving PC Heaton should call PC Stephen Francis on 01244 614270. For the crash involving Vincent Bloor, witnesses should call 01244 614270.
