A NEW PA system, stage lighting and a stage are to be installed at Barnton Memorial Hall thanks to an £8,000 grant from the borough council.
The money from the Vale Royal Rural Development Fund will also pay for soap dispensers and kitchen appliances.
In a report to the parish council, John Turnbull, chairman of the trustees, gave a half yearly report about how the new memorial hall was progressing.
Bookings were on the increase and the trustees were hoping to establish an indoor bowls club.
The trustees are also looking into improving the current heating, which is proving to be neither effective nor cost effective.
There was praise for those who use the hall on a regular basis.
Mr Turnbull said: "We are really impressed by the overall care being taken by users of the hall itself but are concerned about loose stones being moved from the car park.
"We would also ask that visitors are encouraged to take their rubbish home with them and that all doors and windows are closed when the building is vacated."
Meanwhile Mr Turnbull is appealing for anyone who is interested, or knows someone who may be interested, in becoming a treasurer or a trustee for the hall to contact him.
