THE holding company for Northwich based Harringtons Caravans is hoping for a turnaround in fortune after announcing a loss of £460,400.
Titan Move, which has a turnover of £5.58million, is hopeful a strong second half to the year will make up for its interim loss for the six months leading up to February this year.
In a statement company chairman David Morrow said: "Because this is a seasonal business the group currently earns all its profits between March and August - the second half of its trading year."
Titan Move also owns sightseeing company YorkBoat, which is responsible for a significant amount of the company's loss.
The statement said: "The majority of the loss was generated by YorkBoat.
"During the period under review, Harringtons Caravans completed a highly successful week at the North West Caravan Show with orders up by 17 per cent on last year.
"In the two months of January and February the orders for new caravans taken by Harringtons were significantly up on last year, averaging 17 per cent for the two months."
Harringtons Caravans, based in Chester Road, Delamere, has also launched an online accessory and clothing store in a bid to boost sales.
The statement said: "In the short term the caravan market is showing some early signs of a resumption of growth and, despite a degree of margin pressure from industry overstocking, the prospects are good.
"Overall with the next stage of our strategy taking shape I am confident the outlook for Titan Move in 2006 and beyond is very encouraging."
