A GREENBANK family have double the reason to celebrate now that premature twin babies are home to stay.
Born on February 9 and weighing just 1lb 11oz and 1lb 12.5oz respectively, Megan and Callum Burns had a shaky start to their lives - arriving into the world at just 26 weeks.
In the first few weeks of life they suffered a brain bleed - Megan a grade one and Callum a grade four - but the infants have battled on and after almost four months in Leighton Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit the siblings are finally at home and in the care of their parents Jane and Steven and sister Chloe.
Now weighing more than 6lbs each, both babies have been home for almost three weeks and Jane is delighted to be able to look after them properly as a family.
The 24-year-old, of Hatton Lane, said: "They're doing really well. I just want to thank everyone who has helped to raise money for the neo natal unit."
Jane's mum Patricia and aunt Ann Clark, also twins, started off the fundraising drive last month when they raised more than £1,000 having their heads shaved and there are more fundraising events planned.
Jane said: "The nurses were brilliant at the hospital and we're going to keep on fundraising until the twins reach their first birthday."
