MANY thanks for the publicity in the June 7 edition, Scooter vandals' victim gets new lease of life, resulting in a replacement mobility scooter for Harold Collins, provided by Chris Torlop and family - Mr Collins is truly grateful.

The scooter that was earmarked as a replacement by me for Mr Collins has now been delivered to another client in Middlewich and is awaiting a service before he can use it.

I hope Cheshire Constabulary takes note of all the damage taking place in mid Cheshire, for example the church stairlift vandalism shortly after Harold Collins' scooter.

From experience in the armed forces, no battle is won unless boots are on the ground.

My advice, for what it is worth, is to bring back foot patrols. Replacing boots is far cheaper than having vehicles repaired and serviced - why not give it a try Mr Fahey?

I wish to thank the Guardian, the readers who responded in letters or offers of help, Mr Collins for being so patient, Cheshire Sheds which did a grand job, my friends who assist me and Winsford Town Council, which is a great source of support to me.

SSAFA Forces Help is expected to fund itself locally in its voluntary work in the community. What we do is confidential between our clients and us, and any donations are welcome.
