CAPTAIN Barry Crellin inspired Winsford to a second successive win at home to Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge.
And it was his bowlers that did the damage once again.
Just as they had left Barnton reeling seven days earlier, the spinners saw off their guests in style.
Mark Dean mirrored his opening spell of the previous game as he claimed the first wicket in the fifth over before Cheadle choked to 15-2.
James Tierney turned up the heat, claiming two victims, as batsmen were removed at regular intervals.
Then Crellin (5-31) took over.
The skipper ran through the middle and lower order as Cheadle were dismissed cheaply and Winsford claimed maximum bowling points.
David Ellison-Smith also starred with two stunning catches.
In reply, Winsford started slowly as Nicholas was out early.
Fellow opener Jonathan Phillips, looking for his third consecutive half century, stepped up the run rate with newcomer Mike Clarke as the home team looked set to end the game swiftly.
But he fell on 33, leaving Clarke to take control.
The youngster was well on his way to 50 before falling with skipper Crellin in successive overs just three runs short.
At 108-5 Cheadle sensed an opportunity but Colin Dean made the game safe by helping to knock off the required runs and ensure his team scored 22 points.
The 1sts moved into the third round of the 20/20 knock out after seeing off Stretton on Thursday.
Batting first, openers Jonathan Phillips (64) and Mike Clarke (42) got Winsford off to a flying start.
Captain Barry Crellin chipped in 20 to take his side to 143-2 from their 20 overs.
Struggled
In reply, Stretton struggled to build momentum as Martin Barrett struck two fine run outs with direct throws.
But the visitors reached the half way point on 75 with five wickets still standing, giving themselves a sight of victory.
Mark Dean and James Tierney both took wickets in their first overs to apply the brakes.
Stretton finally fell 50 runs short, bowled out for 93.
l WINSFORD 2nds came off second best away to Northwich 2nds.
They were in trouble straight away with two batsmen back in the pavilion before the scorers had been troubled.
Mike Lancaster (88) was able to pull his charges out of the mire, helped by Andrew Barrett (23), hitting 14 fours and a six as Winsford reached a respectable 171-7 by the close of their innings.
Northwich stuttered to 65-4 after Craig Webb and Martin Barrett made early inroads, but their host's middle order rallied to turn the game around.
Andy Gerrard (36) began the recovery, before Matt Rushworth (57no) and Andrew Pickstock (38) shared a fifth wicket stand of 84 to bring the game back in their favour.
Despite Barrett's best efforts as he returned to the attack, Northwich held out to seal a three-wicket win to pick up the maximum 25 points.
