IN A low tempo game between two even sides, Over Peover emerged victorious in the 1st XI 20/20 knockout on Thursday by a four-wicket margin with nine balls to spare.
Choosing to bat on a hot still evening, the Knutsford early-batting made steady progress reaching 42 for 3 after 10 overs.
The middle order accelerated the run rate, Martin Cooke hitting 23 and John Sheldon 27 not out. The innings closed at 100 for 6 after the permitted 20 overs.
Alex Ingarjiola, making his debut as stand-in captain, took 1 for 25 from his four overs; Chris Hatfield 1 for 14, Neil Mills 0 for 17, Chris Naylor 2 for 19 and Mark Nightingale 2 for 19.
In reply although the Peover batting kept ahead of the required scoring rate, reaching 58 for 3 at the halfway stage, no batsman properly settled.
Dan Carson top-scored with 18.
There were also useful contributions from Tom Stubbs and Robin Bones (13 each), Alex Ingarjiola (15) and Jonathan Goodyer (11 not out)
