PEOPLE may travel from a distance to attend their school reunion.
But not many will come as far as a former Oakwood Avenue Girls School pupil who has made an 18,000 mile round trip to meet up again with her old pals.
Pamela Sutcliife, nee Johnston, is Warrington born and bred but she has swapped her life here for one by the sea in Perth, Western Australia.
She is back for the first time in 20 years specifically for the reunion of the class of 1962.
And she says that it will be the first time she has seen most of them since doing her GCEs - apart from one!
She said: "It has been a great nostalgia trip catching up with people and I can't wait until Saturday.
"But there is another girl coming from Australia, Linda Povery.
"I was in a supermarket in Perth and we looked around and recognised each other and have been good friends ever since. She lives south of Perth."
Although Pamela, who turns 60 this year, left Warrington 35 years ago, she has plenty of memories in the borough.
Granddad Arthur Summerfield was Mayor during the Second World War and Summerfield Avenue in Dallam was named after him.
And a search through history showed the family was living in the town as long ago as 1700.
But, after 35 years of living down under, Pamela and husband, Les, who have three daughters, are happy to stay where they are.
If you want to join them at the reunion, it will be held at Appleton Thorn Village Hall on Saturday from 7.30pm. gdunning@guardiangrp.co.uk
