WHEN visiting the Trees Estate last week the Newton and Golborne Guardian spotted skips being filled by residents.
Police officers have positioned skips on the estate and combined this with clean-up days to help get rid of rubbish.
The skip pictured above was full in less than half an hour.
To tackle the issue of fly tipping on Ash Avenue, police have been working with environment health officers and Helena Housing. The restorative justice team carried out a graffiti removal project on the underpass at Acorn Street and the area has remained tidier thanks to litter bins and improved lighting which was installed last year.
Police were worried about the amount of derelict land used by youths on off-road vehicles and as a dumping ground.
The land on Cedar Crescent has been cleared.
Helena Housing has installed gates to the derelict site on Alder Street and Ash Avenue to deny access.
