THE man injured in a collision with a bus on Bridge Street is recovering.
The 40-year-old stepped out in front of a Warrington Borough Transport vehicle on the bus lane leading from Bridge Foot, said witnesses.
It was believed he had suffered life-threatening injuries - but police said he is now comfortable.
Warrington Borough Council's highways department declined to comment on the safety of the bus lane. There does not appear to be a history of accidents there.
Nigel Featham, MD of Warrington Borough Transport, said: "Sadly, it appears the pedestrian walked into the path of the bus without looking properly.
"It appears the junction layout was not a factor in this accident and, as accidents involving pedestrians at the junction are rare, I don't think a safety review is called for."
