I REFER to the intense publicity that the future of Stockton Heath Primary School has created over the past few months.

Well, the fiasco continues.

The education department of Warrington Borough Council has refused to accept the democratic decision made on the March 20 to save and refurbish the school.

Instead it has sent out to a selected few, a draft document stating that it is going to look at the three options again.

These being the demolition and rebuild option, the new site and new build option and lastly the refurbishment option.

In that draft letter it acknowledges that it had failed to explore the feasibility of the refurbishment option fully.

Yet we were told on more than one occasion, by Stockton Heath Parish Council and local Liberal Democrats councillors, Celia Jordan and Peter Walker that the refurbishment option had been fully explored and it was not a feasible option.

By looking at the refurbishment option properly, this totally vindicates the views of the Save Stockton Heath Primary School Action Group in its stance to save the school.

These three options regarding the future of the school are to be examined over the next three months, during which time another consultation period will take place.

The previous consultation period took 15 months and Warrington Borough Council couldn't come to the right decision on that occasion.

How on earth is it going to come to a correct decision in a fifth of the time of the original consultation period?

And who is paying for this new consultation - we the council taxpayers?

The new controlling party of Warrington Borough Council, the Liberal Democrats are always on about wasting council taxpayers' money. It's a pity they don't teach what they preach.
