with new equipment
CHILDREN at Winwick Primary School will be freewheeling at playtime thanks to £500 of funding from Cheshire Building Society's Community Support Programme.
The school on Myddleton Lane had launched an initiative to raise funds for outdoor equipment to be used in its newly developed play areas.
It used the grant to buy three Rabo Trikes for reception class pupils to put to the test at playtime.
Judith Parker, reception class and early years co-ordinator, said: "It is important for young children to have the opportunity to play and learn both indoors and outdoors.
"The generosity of businesses such as Cheshire Building Society has allowed us to provide better equipment in a safe environment for the children."
With support from its Parents Teachers and Friends' Association and school governors, Winwick Primary School has undergone extensive work over the past two years to develop its gardens and outdoor play areas for its 200 pupils.
A dedicated play area for the
reception class and a quiet garden area for the older children were the main focus of the initiatives.
Cheryl Lavin, manager of the Warrington branch of Cheshire Building Society, said: "We were able to lend our support to nearly 100 charitable organisations in the north west through our Community Support Programme.
"Our aim is to ensure that every donation we make benefits the communities in which we live and work and this will be put into practice through the donation made to Winwick Primary School."
