DISABLED Great Sankey discus thrower Ben Stringer is ready to swing into action at the Disabilty Sports Events Open in Manchester at the weekend.
The 25-year-old former Warrington Disabled Sports Personality of the Year, who holds the British discus record, has been short of good results in recent times but received the boost he needed before this weekend's international competition after winning the Electrabel Paralympic Championships in Blankenberge, Belgium.
His mother Heather said: "He's had a fallow couple of years but things are starting to take off for him again and that was his first big result.
"It's given him the motivation now for the nationals. He's really keen to do well and he's got a good chance."
