A WILDERSPOOL church will be opening its doors to the public after its halls underwent a major refurbishment.
St John's United Reformed Church has completed its refurbishment, which was funded using the landfill tax money of Waste Recycling Group (WRG), which is administered and distributed by Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN).
Among the changes to the church are improved kitchen facilities and storage. New flooring has also been fitted, notice boards and fire doors have been replaced and the church hall has also been redecorated throughout.
The environment and regeneration department of Warrington Borough Council and the Latchford Community Forum supported the church's application for funding, which was strengthened by its involvement with groups who regularly use the church's facilities.
The minister of St John's URC, The Rev David Coaker, said: "We are immensely grateful for the support we have received from WRG and their commendation of the work we are already doing in our community.
"In the months to come this will spur us on to even greater engagement with the community in which we worship and service."
The church will be opening its doors on Sunday from 10.30am until 12.30pm and will be showing off the improved facilities through a number of activities and worship.
