PARISH councillors in Lymm say damage to the village skatepark should not detract from the large numbers of youngsters who use the facility without causing trouble.
As reported in last week's Warrington Guardian, the skate ramps were damaged by vandals 10 days ago.
Now, members of the parish council say the majority of the users love the new ramps.
Clr Bob Barr said: "This is very disappointing and very unsightly and something we deplore.
"But it is only a minor setback. Most of the time the skateboard facility is well used by youngsters enjoying themselves, often accompanied by their parents.
"There have been ongoing problems of vandalism in the park for 20 to 30 years.
"We have asked the police community support officers to give extra attention to the park but they cannot be there all the time."
And Clr Sheila Woodyatt said it was important that the problem was not exaggerated.
She added: "The young people said they wanted this and it is something we should be supporting."
