A PETITION against a youth shelter earmarked for a town centre park will be presented to Middlewich Town Council on June 19.
More than 130 residents have signed the petition in protest against plans to site a shelter at Fountain Fields.
Andy Bailey, from CW10residents group, said: "We are going to protest very, very heavily that it's not going to go on Fountain Fields.
"If there's no other space for it we shouldn't have it.
"Sandbach has got a youth shelter but the park there is five or six times bigger than Fountain Fields."
Congleton Borough Council's community task and coordination group identified the park as a suitable location but will be carrying out a public consultation.
Mike Hunter, also from CW10, said: "They're living in a dream world if they think people are going to sit and talk about the weather at a youth shelter.
"We have no trouble with the youths of the town who are genuinely going to use the shelter for the reasons it's there for - it's the very small element who will use it for undesirable activities.
"It will just allow the park to become another vandalisem hotspot."
