RECORD numbers of people turned up to a sun soaked Winsford Festival at the weekend which organisers believe has put the town on the map.
Thousands of people enjoyed a memorable weekend in the grounds of Wyvern House with live bands, firework displays, a fun fair, It's A Knockout competition and displays from the armed forces.
Organiser Steve Smith said: "When I started this festival nine years ago my aim was to achieve what we have done this weekend. We knew a lot of people would come along but we actually got four times as many as we had expected.
"I just don't think we can better this year because we can't actually fit anymore into the weekend or have more people come along. I'm exhausted but absolutely delighted."
Winsfordians were treated to an array of musical talent on Saturday with performances from up and coming bands as well as a headlining show from tribute act Abba Forever.
The sun continued to shine on Sunday when a Wetherspoons team beat off stiff competition and retained the It's A Knockout trophy.
Sunday also saw a fantastic selection of drama and arts productions organised and performed by Factory Academy of Dramatic Arts and troupe dancing competitions.
Steve said: "Everyone had so much fun that I don't know where to begin trying to describe it. It was a quite brilliant weekend and people came from all around the north west to see it, so it has really put Winsford on the map."
Steve is already planning next year's extravaganza and is appealing for more help.
He said: "We have a small team and we have achieved so much but we can't do this every year. We need more help because I am absolutely exhausted and need a bit more support so I would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to get involved."
