RESIDENTS of Weaverham were given the opportunity to raise their voices with councillors last week as part of a new community project.

Locality Boards - made up of local county councillors - have been started in order to allow community members to voice their concerns about life in their areas and county councillor Nora Dolphin has already embraced the new scheme.

The executive member for community and communications joined Vale Royal borough councillors and Weaverham parish councillors to go on walkabouts in the village to uncover people's views.

She said: "Many local highways concerns stem from complaints about traffic, potholes, flooding and such so it really is important to have good relations to ensure all three levels of local government work together.

"Councillors, by walking their patch and talking to people, can experience the issues direct. Now it's all part of the new way of getting things done."

The boards will work closely with parish and town councils, residents groups and voluntary organisations in order to gather information. They will operate within a Cheshire County Council framework, making recommendations to its committees.
