A RUDHEATH teenage biker suspected of riding without insurance in Northwich has had his wheels seized.

The 17-year-old must pay £105 and £12 per day storage cost and will only get his vehicle back if he can prove he has insurance and a valid driving licence.

PC Rob Astbury, who seized the bike from the teenage rider in Malpas Road on May 30, said he is keen to crack down on the anti-social and illegal use of mini motorbikes and off-road bikes in and around Rudheath and Witton.

He said: "One biker has already lost his vehicle and may face criminal motoring charges.

"We won't hesitate to take action against anyone else we suspect of riding illegally or anti-socially.

"Offenders can expect to have their vehicles seized and, where appropriate, face criminal prosecution if they choose to ruin the quality of life in a community with this type of behaviour.

"It's simply not acceptable for people to go tearing around the community in cars or on bikes, putting their own lives and other people's at risk."

He added: "Motorbikes of all types, even the mini ones, can only be used in a public place if the rider and bike are fully covered in terms of a licence, MOT and insurance.

"Even if a person has all this cover, if a vehicle is being used in anti-social way, we can ultimately seize it."
