POLICE in Sydney, Australia, are still searching for a taxi driver who sped off from an accident in which Runcorn man Darren Owen suffered fatal injuries.

A spokesperson for New South Wales Police last night told the World there were 'no new updates' in their hunt for the cabbie.

Darren died in hospital from serious head injuries two days after falling from a moving taxi after a night out in Sydney. His parents, David and Brenda, of Solway Grove, Beechwood, were at his bedside.

The 26-year-old had emigrat-

ed to Australia with girlfriend Lorraine Evans in February and had been working as an electrician. Friends said they had been having 'an amazing time'.

Tributes to Darren from long-lost school pals, family friends and former neighbours have continued to pour in.

David Connolly described him as 'always one of the nicest guys I knew round here'.

He added: "Although I haven't seen him for a good few years I will always remember him. My heart goes out to his family."

Stephanie Little said: "Darren was a lovely, lovely guy. My sister and I have very fond memories of him from when we were little kids in primary school. Our thoughts are with his family."

And Geraldine Young said: "I went to school with Darren and Lorraine - I had a number of lessons with Lorraine and shared the same bus journey home as Darren," she said.

"I am shocked that such a tragedy has taken away such a friendly and bright character. My thoughts are with Lorraine at this very sad time."

Darren's funeral was held at St Michael's church in Greenway Road last Friday.
