ANDY Floyd's brilliance with bat and ball could not inspire Davenham 2nds to victory against Oakmere 2nds.
The visitors clung on for a draw at Davenham, despite Floyd notching 92 and then weighing in with bowling figures of 3-25.
Their hosts rued what might have been.
Put in to bat, Davenham began briskly, with Jay Loveridge (21) and Floyd racing to 43 in just eight overs.
When he was bowled by Jameel Kara, Tom Screen (26) supported Davenham's danger man in a second wicket stand of 97 before he was run out.
Floyd continued until he was bowled by Mike Cushion just eight runs short of a century.
A flurry of late boundaries from Luke Cookson and Steve Warburton took the tally to 216-7.
In reply, Oakmere started slowly with Dan Wood (25) and Peter Jones (19) sharing an opening partnership of 42 before Chris Hornby broke through.
He claimed three quick wickets to leave Oakmere on the edge.
Floyd quickly found form when he joined the attack, helping himself to three wickets as Oakmere collapsed from 76-3 to 85-7 with three batsmen out without troubling the scorers.
Mike Cushion then joined Jon Haslam at the crease as the visitors battled to save the game.
And they did, finishing on 162-9.
Cushion (37) held on until the penultimate ball, while Haslam finished unbeaten on 45.
It was little consolation to Mike Burgess, who took two wickets with the final two deliveries, but Davenham consoled themselves with 15 bonus points.
Oakmere earned eight.
Both sides are in action again on Saturday.
Davenham head to Alderley Park, while Oakmere hope to return to winning ways at home to Lower Peover.
