THE NSPCC is encouraging people in Warrington to give their time to mark volunteer week.

The event, which started on Thursday, aims to encourage people to volunteer to help out in the community.

And the NSPCC says it would welcome support from anyone wanting to make a difference to children's lives.

Steve Morton, head of community appeals for the NSPCC in Warrington, said: "The dedication and commitment of our volunteers is amazing and we would like to thank them all for their continued support.

"They are the lifeblood of the NSPCC.

"Unfortunately, it is becoming increasingly difficult to engage new people in fundraising activities.

"But, no matter how much or little time and effort people are able to put in, it all counts.

"Whether people have an hour or a day to spare, there are many different ways to become an NSPCC volunteer."

One of the big events will be the Big Bike Ride Weekend on June 30, July 1&2. The bike ride could be a family spin in the local park or a bike ride that spans the breadth of the country.
