KNUTSFORD were knocked out of the cup by a good side from the division above.
Stand-in captain Mike Ashworth and youngster Adam Clayton got the batting off to a good start, hitting 23 off the first four overs until Ashworth was bowled for 11 in the fifth. Clayton continued to impress upon the opponents hitting 52 until he was eventually bowled, with no one else managing to really support him at the other end.
After a brilliant run out by Ryan Blake, removing opener Kniveton, and then Ashworth disposing of opposition captain Kendrick it looked like Knutsford were becoming giant killers.
However, Hulme and Burton produced a brilliant display of batting and it was too little too late when Ashworth caught Hulme off Ben Cook's bowling on 21, as Burton finished on 48.
