PUBLIC opinion is being sought after Cheshire County Council announced plans to re-route a footpath in Lostock Gralam.
Plans have been submitted to divert the path which runs through Jack Richards and Sons, along the railway line and through JW Barrow and Co in Griffiths Road.
A county council spokeswoman said: "Jack Richards and Sons has made an application to re-route the path 181 metres around its boundary.
"The path would come out at Griffiths Road, allowing people to use the public footpath which goes under the railway, making it safer for users."
The application has already been submitted to the council's rights of way committee.
Members of the public may submit representations or objections to Countryside Access Manager, Public Rights of Way Unit, Phoenix House, Clough Road, Winsford, CW7 4BD, by June 30.
