A POLICE officer has assured Rudheath residents the force is clamping down on crime after a teenager was arrested and cautioned about the use of drugs.

PC Leanne Huddart, Northwich Community Action Team officer for Rudheath, wants to raise awareness of small-scale operations such as the drugs search during which the teenager was cautioned for allowing premises in Nicholas Avenue to be used for smoking cannabis.

The 18-year-old man was taken to Northwich Police Station following the discovery of a number of items linked to drugs use at the address on May 26.

PC Huddart said: "Having an adult caution against your name is not a very good start to adult life.

"Hopefully, this will serve as sufficient warning and we won't be seeing this man for criminal reasons again.

"I think it's important for people to know about these smaller scale operations because they show that when enquiries need to be made, we do not sit back.

"We are out in the community searching properties and talking to people who may be able to help.

"We work hard to keep in touch with residents and the issues which concern them.

"This helps us take the appropriate action. Sometimes that means conducting search warrants, at other times it can be seizing vehicles or alcohol from underage drinkers."

She added: "The important thing for people to know is that we are doing our best to clamp down on the problems which are affecting them.

"I hope residents feel reassured by this.

"I also hope it sends out a clear message to the minority of people who are not law-abiding that their actions will not be tolerated."
