AFTER making a miraculous recovery from a rare syndrome that left him covered from head to toe in burning blisters, brave schoolboy Andrew Rogers is kicking off an appeal to raise cash for a children's charity.

In April this year, the Warrington Guardian told how six-year-old Andrew was stuck down by Stevens Johnson's Syndrome: a severe, sometimes fatal reaction to medication, bacteria or a virus.

When children's charity 'When You Wish Upon a Star' heard about his bravery they sent Granada TV presenter Paul Crone to meet him and hand over a Playstation and games and arranged for him to meet his favourite Manchester United players.

Now, Andrew and his family are urging big businesses in the area to support a charity Christmas party at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in aid of the charity.

The charity dinner, to be held on Saturday, November 26 is being hosted by Warrington clothing company boss Chris Ross, of J&K Ross Limited.

Andrew's mum Jacquie, of Carlton Way, Glazebrook, said: "Andrew was so very, very poorly and it was such a lovely thing for the charity to do. Andrew's made a great recovery but he still talks about the gifts he received. This is our way of repaying them for what they did and making people aware of the charity and the work they do for sick children."

Patron of the charity, Paul Crone said: "I'm really chuffed that Andrew can join us at the launch. He's been through so much and we would urge local companies to support the evening and help us make more children's wishes come true."

The evening will include a three-course meal and live entertainment. There will also be a disco, auction and raffle. Tickets are £40 or £400 for a table of 10.
