celebrate success
LYMM High School have lifted the Cheshire Under 14s Cricket Cup for the first time since a budding England international was in their midst.
The last time the school won the competition in 1978 a young Neil Fairbrother was the captain and the current team emulated the success of the former Lancashire batsman by securing victory against Congleton High School in the final at Grappenhall.
Good bowling from Sam Guest and Mike Taylor helped Lymm restrict Congleton to 90 in their 25 overs, and they then reached the target thanks to 54 not out from captain Chris France.
Lymm will represent Cheshire in the national competition next season.
