WARRINGTON Rowing Club are celebrating a successful summer that brought an overall improvement in performances.
The club secured a total of 63 wins in the 17 various club regattas throughout the season, as well as gaining five medals at the three principal national regattas - including gold in the girls' junior 15 double sculls at the Natonal Schools Regatta.
Club captain Graeme Atherton has been pleased with the progress made.
He said: "It has been a very successful summer on the water. We have competed at fewer events than last year but the quality of our performances has improved.
"Our goal for the 2006 regatta campaign is to surpass this achievement. I look forward to some outstanding achievements and the increasing recognition of Warrington as a club that's going places."
The club will go into the winter season in good shape, and with crew numbers on the increase they are seeking to recruit and train more coxes.
Anyone interested in getting involved as a rower or a cox is welcome to attend sessions at the club's base near Kingsway Bridge on Sundays between noon and 1.30pm.
