Hockey team draw on return
WARRINGTON men's hockey team drew 1-1 at Northop Hall in their first league game since the club reformed.
After a season out of action, the club were revived ahead of the 2005/06 season and came from 1-0 down to draw with their Hawarden opponents thanks to a late individual effort from Ian Richards.
The town's new hockey teams come face to face at the weekend when Warrington entertain Lymm, who also won their first league match.
First-time medals
TWO players from a judo club at Penketh High School won medals in the first competition they entered.
Children from all over the north west competed in the competition at Woodchurch Leisure Centre on the Wirral but they were unable to wrestle medals off Hollie Murray and Joe Gibbon.
Hollie, aged 10, of Great Sankey, won gold in her weight category, while Joe, aged 10, claimed bronze.

Lann grand slam
LANN Comms won the Padgate Recreation Centre Seven-a-side Summer Champions League after a penalty shoot-out win against National in the final.
They had previously beaten George FC on penalties in the semi finals, and it also took spot kicks to decide National's last four clash with Pro Freeze.
Indoor bowls
NEW members are being welcomed to Padgate Community Centre's indoor bowls club.
Social bowls starts at the centre on Tuesday and Thursday, October 13 between 1.30pm and 4.30pm. Anyone requiring further information can contact Anne Hall on 821456.
