JASON McGonigle was the third English runner home in the World Mountain Running Championships junior race that was held in Wellington, New Zealand.
The Warrington Athletics Club ace, who was one of the youngest runners in the race and is eligible for the age group for the next two years, finished 29th in 42mins 36secs to help the English team to finish in ninth place in the team competition.
Four Warrington Athletics Club runners travelled to Uttoxeter for the open cross country meeting.
In the under 13s boys' race, Luke Johnston finished fifth, while at under 15s level Matt Jackson, Stephen Broadhurst and Danny Cliffe totally dominated the event to take the first three positions.
With about half a mile to go, Matt broke clear from his teammates to take the victory from Stephen and Danny.
