Southport Trinity 1
Warrington Town Reserves 0
WARRINGTON Town Reserves' six-match unbeaten run came to an end as they lost their Liverpool Challenge Cup second round clash with Southport Trinity on Saturday.
Andy Potter, Lee Boardman and Lee Dermody all came close to breaking the deadlock in the first half.
And Hughes squandered two good chances for Southport.
Hughes made no mistake with 20 minutes remaining as, with Town appealing for offside, he broke through the visitors' defence and slotted the ball past Aaron Tyrer to seal the success.
Town Reserves: Tyrer, Parr, Hall, Brownbill, Akrigg, Brown, Boardman, Sinker, Dermody, Warburton, Potter. Subs used: Latham, Berry, Lupton. Not used: Rosterne, Preston.
