THE latest plans to improve a patch of ground on two streets in Old Hall, Great Sankey, were described at the last meeting of the parish council.
The plot of ground is between Ross Close and Lander Close. It is owned by Arena Housing, but is being redeveloped by Groundwork Mersey Valley (GMV), an independent trust.
Catherine Sheil from GMV told the meeting that after residents were consulted, it was decided to cut back the overgrown bushes and put in a toddlers' play area, but to keep the parking spaces.
New street lights will be installed and a path will be created through the middle of the plot, so people feel safer when out walking.
GMV has got funding for the work and planning permission is expected around October 17.
Ms Sheil said similar work on Gregory Close will not go-ahead until next year, so the current project can be finished and more funding can be secured.
