THE banks and shops you use every day rely on the expertise - of a Warrington firm.

The chip and pin credit card systems you use to withdraw money and buy goods were probably sorted out by this local company - and it also does business all over the world.

ICC Solutions was established in 1997 by forward-thinking former bank workers who saw how important chip and pin cards would become.

They developed test programmes so banks and businesses can make sure they comply with international standards when they convert from magnetic strip cards to chip and pin cards.

Major

Catherine Wilson, business development manager, said: "Our products are used throughout the world by major banks and retailers."

Its UK clients have included Barclays and HSBC, and it has done work in countries from New Zealand, to Malaysia to Canada - and it has less than 10 staff.

The firm is based in St James Court in Wilderspool Causeway and it has won several awards, including the Department of Trade and Industry's Exporter of the Year in 2003.

It was also named in the UK's 50 fastest growing companies by the Sunday Times in 2001 to 2002.
