TO celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the WI, our September meeting began with the cutting of a magnificent birthday cake made by Jan Cheetham.
Many members enjoyed a walk and lunch around Dunham and the day spent at Macclesfield Silk Museum. The bowls team were runners up in the league. Our donation to the Rotary's Tsunami appeal has helped in the building of 50 much needed houses. Once again, the stall at the Woolston Show proved a great success. We are going to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in April.
Our speaker was Gordon Jay, a professional comedian. He has worked in the theatre for 50 years with some very famous names. He made us all realise just how much work has to be done off stage to ensure a good performance.
A celebratory drink was enjoyed with the birthday cake while we were entertained by our three oldest members telling us of their time in the WI during the past 60 years.
The competition for a collage clown was won by Pat Prince.
