A CASH boost of £392 is on its way to Macmillan Cancer Relief after libraries across St Helens joined in the world's biggest coffee morning on Friday.
Newton Library took part in the event, which saw libraries offer visitors coffee and ask for a voluntary donation.
Cato Tempelman, St Helens Council librarian, said: "This is a great result.
"Both library staff and customers got behind this to support a very worthwhile charity and we were overwhelmed by the positive reactions and generosity of our customers.
"It just goes to show what generous people use St Helens Libraries."
Macmillan Cancer Relief is a national organisation that helps people who are living with cancer, by providing high quality cancer care and making it easier for people affected by the disease to get the practical and emotional support they want and need.
