KINGSWAY Leisure Centre in Widnes is to be the subject of a £1m investment programme making it one of the best facilities in the area.
Improvements to the centre will include a new modern fitness suite, upgraded changing rooms, lockers, showers and steam rooms.
Cllr Phil Harris, Halton Council's executive board member for leisure and sport, said: "These are long-awaited, much needed improvements which will make Kingsway a first-class leisure centre that we can once again be proud of."
The centre will stay open while the work, which is set to start on October 10, takes place.
The new-look centre will then be re-launched in the new year.
